Get a Free Ecommerce Store at Ecrater11.30.09

I have used the free ecommerce store at Ecrater.com several different times as my shopping cart and storefront needs changed over the years. While the free e-commerce store design is not particularly customizable, you can choose one of several color schemes and change the logo and graphics to suit your needs. Text is completely editable but you cannot use HTML.

Besides offering a free ecommerce store platform that is easy for almost anyone to use, each creator lists your products on their main shopping site and works in conjunction with Froogle. This could afford you more exposure for your products and starting your own independent ecommerce shop online. Of course, for maximum success with your free e-commerce store you will still need to market it heavily.

Using a free ecommerce store from Ecrater has several drawbacks over creating your own site. As previously mentioned, the ability to customize the look and feel of your site is limited. However, with the amount of text and graphic representations of the categories and products you offer that are available on the front page, you should be able to create a free e-commerce store that looks both professional and enticing. You also have to deal with the fact that you get a sub domain name instead of a top-level domain. You can purchase the domain name separately and create a redirect to your Ecrater store.

The most obvious benefit to free ecommerce store is the fact that it is free. For people who are beginning with e-commerce, free is always nice. It greatly reduces the chance of losing a lot of money if your small business fails. Using this type of free ecommerce store also helps you learn more about web design and development as you build it.

I personally recommend http://www.ecrater.com for anyone who is beginning to sell products online and who is interested in using an e-commerce platform rather than an online auction one. Combining a free ecommerce store within eBay or other auction business is also a good idea. Increased profits without increased costs is the main draw of free ecommerce store platforms.

The Transition from Job to Home11.30.09

People want to make a living from home.  There is no denying that.

Two things get in the way.

1. Replacing the income
2. Transforming the mindset

One might assume that the first one in that short list is the most important.  And, of course, you can’t quit your job unless you have other income coming in.  However, that income can be built up gradually while you are still working 9 to 5.

The second thing on that list is often the more difficult of the two.  Working for yourself at home can surprise you with unusual feelings.  Freedom is the first one.  It is good to feel free of the rat race, but too much freedom will lead to total collapse of your home business.

The most common problems when transitioning from job to home are:

1. Procrastination
2. People expecting you to have free time
3. Not organizing time well
4. Procrastination

5. Lack of balance between home and work

It takes a lot of self discipline to work from home.

Importance of Professional Template11.23.09

Is having a professional template for your website that important?

Many people in the online business world would say, “Yes!!!”

Me? I think it depends on what you mean by ‘professional.’

For small business owners, there is really no great reason to spend hundreds of dollars on professional website design. As long as you make (or get) an attractive, user-friendly, and functional website template, you are good to go.

I have never purchased a website template or web design services. I spent an awful lot of time and energy learning HTML and CSS and how to use my graphics program (Paintshop Pro 8). I am not an expert, and I recognize that many people do not have the time or inclination to study all of this.

Does that mean they will never have a professional-looking website? No. There are so many quality free templates out there that can suffice. My favorite site for them is OSWD.org. With a little tweaking, any template can become a one-of-a-kind.
